Charitable Donation Disclosure

Only publish this section once you actually establish the donation program and have selected the organization. Don't advertise "$1 donated" until the details are nailed down.

Last Updated: [DATE]

Timberward believes supporting privacy and civil-liberty advocacy can extend beyond the apparel we sell.

For qualifying purchases, Timberward will donate $1 from each qualifying purchase to [ORGANIZATION NAME] during the promotional period described on our website.

How the Program Works

Unless otherwise stated:

Donation: $1
Basis: Each qualifying [item/order] sold
Beneficiary: [ORGANIZATION]
Promotion period: [START DATE] through [END DATE / ONGOING]
Maximum donation: [AMOUNT / NO PREDETERMINED MAXIMUM, if legally appropriate]

Purchases are not tax-deductible donations by the customer. Timberward makes the donation from company funds based on qualifying sales.

The beneficiary organization's name is used to identify the intended recipient of Timberward's charitable contribution and does not necessarily indicate that the organization sponsors, endorses, or is affiliated with Timberward.

Terms of the program may be modified or discontinued as permitted by applicable law, but changes will not reduce donations already incurred through qualifying purchases.

There are two more pieces I'd add before launch: a short footer disclaimer that's visible throughout the store and a Contact Information page containing your business contact email and whatever business mailing information you're comfortable publishing.

Also, because you plan to make a specific dollar-per-sale charitable claim, I'd verify the applicable charitable-sales-promotion rules before advertising it. Those campaigns can have additional requirements beyond simply sending the nonprofit money.
